Launching a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said at a massive election rally held in Asansol that “TMC has ruined Bengal”.
Addressing
a massive gathering of supporters, PM Modi said the upcoming election was an opportunity to “liberate Bengal from the rule of the mafia”, alleging that the state was burdened by corruption and misgovernance. He claimed that youth in the state are struggling to find jobs and that development had stalled, adding that Bengal, once a prosperous region, has now lost its growth momentum completely.
He said a place like Asansol where people are hardworking need a government like BJP and not TMC that has put Asansol on the track of poverty and bad governance.
Modi said the people of Bengal had earlier overcome fear during the Left rule and would now do the same with the TMC. Accusing the ruling party of “atrocities against its own people”, he also referred to a recent incident in Malda, calling it a “blunder” that would prove to be the “final nail in the coffin” of the TMC government. He alleged that TMC workers had abused security forces, including the CRPF, and said the people of the state would give a “befitting reply” in the elections.
Asansol has the capacity to be a mega city, but TMC has kept Asansol behind. However, if BJP comes to power in the state, we will take Asansol, Durgapur region forward, PM Modi.
