Virat Kohli is now the joint-highest run-getter in India-New Zealand ODIs. The 37-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi equalled legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 1750 runs on Sunday (January 11)
to share the No. 1 position.
Kohli needed 94 runs in the first India-New Zealand ODI taking place at BCA Stadium in Vadodara to go past Tendulkar’s tally, and he scored 93 runs from 91 balls in the 301-run chase. During his stay at the crease, he slammed 8 fours and 1 six for the hosts and added 77 runs from 76 balls for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer (47*).

The overall record of scoring the most runs in ODIs against the Kiwis is in the name of former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting. Ponting played 51 ODIs against the Black Caps and in 50 innings scored 1971 runs.
Kohli is now joint-second on the list of batters with the most ODI runs against the Black Caps.

Before becoming India’s joint-highest run-getter in ODIs against New Zealand, Kohli became the fastest batter in the world to score 28,000 runs in international cricket.
The former India captain broke Tendulkar’s record by scoring his 28,000th run in international cricket for India in 624 innings. Kohli needed 25 runs in the ongoing India-New Zealand ODI to complete 28,000 runs in international cricket, and he achieved the objective in the 13th over.
During his playing days, Tendulkar scored his 28,000th run for India in his 644th innings, whereas Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara needed 666 innings to reach the 28,000-run mark in international cricket.
