The dust has barely settled on the box-office juggernaut that was Dhurandhar, and the makers are already setting the stage for a much larger second chapter. The upcoming sequel is expected to dig deeper
into Ranveer Singh’s character, tracing his origins and eventual rise within Pakistan’s underworld. Adding to the intrigue, Dhurandhar 2 will reportedly unfold Akshaye Khanna’s backstory through extended flashbacks, while R Madhavan steps into a more commanding position in the narrative.
As anticipation builds, industry buzz suggests that the first teaser of Dhurandhar 2 will be attached to Border 2, which hits theatres on January 23. Ahead of this reveal, Border actor Suniel Shetty—who is set to make a cameo in Border 2 alongside son Ahan Shetty—has weighed in on Aditya Dhar’s ambitious action drama.
Suniel Shetty On Aditya Dhar’s Vision
Speaking to NDTV, Suniel praised director Aditya Dhar for embracing long-form storytelling on the big screen, a format audiences have increasingly grown accustomed to through OTT platforms. “He realised that people are used to OTT, so he said, you want OTT? I’ll give it to you on a larger screen. I’ll give you four hours on the big screen, and people lapped it up,” Suniel said.
‘Ranveer Singh Is 100 Out Of 10’
While Suniel was full of admiration for the entire cast, Akshaye Khanna’s performance clearly left a mark. “The performances are outstanding. Akshaye Khanna is ten on ten. He is a fantastic actor,” he said. But it was Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of Hamza that truly impressed him. “Ranveer Singh is 100 out of 10. It is Ranveer Singh all the way.”
Elaborating on what set Ranveer apart, Suniel explained, “Akshaye is brilliant, but Ranveer was restrained. He held back, and that’s the most difficult thing to do. Showing jingoism as a hero is easy and the audience believes it. But sitting back in another country, yearning for your motherland and wanting to do something, that’s very tough.”
Clearly excited about what lies ahead, Suniel added, “I can only imagine him in Dhurandhar 2. Legendary. Legendary. Hats off to the kid. Phenomenal.”
Release Clash Ahead
Dhurandhar 2 is slated for a major theatrical clash, as it is expected to release on March 19 alongside Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, setting the stage for one of the biggest box-office face-offs of the year.
