If you thought Yashasvi Jaiswal was only a skilled batter, it might be time to reconsider. On the opening day of the second Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Jaiswal briefly
stepped into the role of a doctor after his captain, Shubman Gill, suffered a painful collision while attempting a quick single.
The incident occurred when Jaiswal flicked a delivery from West Indies pacer Anderson Phillip towards midwicket and called for a sharp run. The fielder responded quickly, collecting the ball and sending in throw towards the wicketkeeper’s end.
The throw, however, was wayward. In an effort to avoid being hit, Gill collided awkwardly with West Indies wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, leaving both players visibly shaken and in discomfort.
Medical staff from both teams rushed onto the field. But before the professionals could step in, Jaiswal lightened the mood with a humorous gesture.
In a playful moment, the young opener performed a mock concussion test on Gill, asking him to count his fingers – which is actually part of the standard concussion protocol.
The act brought a smile to his captain’s face.
Shubman Gill got hit on the helmet.

Fortunately, Gill was deemed fit to continue and along with Jaiswal, saw India finish the Day 1 at 318/2 in exact 90 overs of play.
