Actress Hansika Motwani has moved to a Mumbai sessions court and has filed a defamation case against her former sister-in-law, television actor Muskan Nancy James. Motwani has sought Rs 2 crore in damages
from James for accusing her and her brother, Prashant Motwani, of domestic violence.
The court case has been filed through advocate Adnan Shaikh. In her plea, Motwani requested the court to order James not to make any statements against her in the future. She also demanded a public apology from her brother’s former wife and alleged that James made false and damaging claims about them to avoid repaying an alleged loan of Rs 27 lakh.
Hansika claimed that James had borrowed the amount during her marriage to her brother and has not returned it yet despite repeated requests. The suit also described James as a “small-time television actor” who allegedly projected a lavish lifestyle online while refusing to settle her dues.
James Accused Motwani And Her Brother Of Violence
Previously, James filed a complaint and accused Hansika and her brother of cruelty and harassment. She made allegations of domestic violence in the FIR and even accused Hansika of interfering a lot in her marriage. However, Motwani has denied all allegations.
James and Hansika’s brother, Prashant Motwani, tied the knot in 2020, but has been living separately since 2022.
The hearing for the defamation case is expected to come up before the Dindoshi sessions court soon.
About Hansika’s Divorce From Sohael Khaturiya
Meanwhile, Hansika is also separated from Sohael now. The two got married in December 2022 in a lavish ceremony at Mundota Fort and Palace in Jaipur. However, rumours about problems in their marriage had been circulating since last year. The speculation grew after Hansika removed several photos and videos with Sohael from her Instagram account, though she did not publicly comment on it at the time.
Earlier this year, India Today reported that Hansika had approached the court seeking a divorce by mutual consent and reportedly decided not to make any claims for alimony as part of the separation. Reports state that the two have been living apart since July 2, 2024.
