For generations, the story of the Ramayana has been passed down through bedtime tales, school lessons, television serials and long conversations at home. Many grew up watching Ram walk into exile, hearing
about forests, rivers and distant lands without ever seeing them placed together. The geography often stayed abstract, imagined differently by every listener.
A Digital Map That Struck A Chord
That imagination is now getting a visual shape. A detailed Ram Vanvas Map has gone viral on social media, drawing thousands of views and reactions. Shared widely on Instagram, the illustrated map traces Lord Ram’s 14-year exile across the Indian subcontinent. The artwork stitches together mythology, geography and storytelling into a single visual flow.
Many users say it feels like seeing the Ramayana unfold on a screen, step by step.

Tracing Ram’s Journey, Step By Step
The map begins at Ayodhya, marking the point where Ram, Sita and Lakshman left the kingdom behind. It then traces their movement to Prayagraj, where they are believed to have met Maharishi Valmiki. From there, the route moves to Chitrakoot, a key halt during their early days in exile. The path continues into the dense forests of Dandakaranya, where the trio spent nearly 10 years. Panchavati appears next, marking the events that led to Sita’s abduction.
The journey then stretches south to Kishkindha, where Ram meets Hanuman and Sugriva, before reaching Lepakshi and Rameswaram. Finally, the map shows Ram Setu leading to Lanka, where the battle with Ravana unfolded.
Social Media Reacts With Awe
Comments under the viral posts range from devotional to nostalgic. Some users wrote about remembering old Ramayana episodes. Others said the map helped them finally understand the sequence of places. “It’s great that you explain the Ramayana timeline so wonderfully,” commented a user. “I finally know the whole route and plan to travel,” wrote another one.
A few even suggested it should be part of school textbooks or museum exhibits.
