In a major road rage incident, a woman drove a young man on the bonnet of her car for nearly two kilometres in Pune as he tried to stop her following an argument. A few videos of the incident have been
circulated widely across social media platforms, drawing strong reactions from people.
According to The Times of India, the incident took place at around 3 PM on January 17, while the man has been identified as Ram Rathod.
Woman Drives Man On Bonnet At 60 Km/hr
In a clip shared on X, a man can be seen hanging on the bonnet of a moving car. Later on, he was spotted lying in the middle of the road.
It is being said that the 34-year-old man sustained a fracture in his hand. However, he did not report the incident to police.
After multiple videos related to the incident started circulating online, police traced Rathod and recorded his statement on Monday, January 19. A day later, police arrested the woman, a resident of Baner, working for an NGO. She was taken into custody on charges of attempting to commit culpable homicide and rash driving. Police later produced her before a court and she got released on bail.
Laxminagar Police Station senior inspector Ravindra Kadam said the accused was travelling from Yerawada to Shivajinagar on January 17 when her car hit a bike on the Sangamwadi Road. After being hit, the rider and his family, including a child, fell off the bike.
At that time, she put her car in reverse gear and hit Rathod’s vehicle. Soon after, Rathod chased the woman’s car, intercepted it and parked his vehicle alongside.
While Rathod was standing in front of the woman’s vehicle, she stepped on the accelerator and he jumped on the bonnet to save himself.
The woman continued to drive her vehicle at a speed of nearly 50-60 km/hr for about two kms, with Rathod being held onto the bonnet. After seeing this, several other motorists started chasing the vehicle and made videos of the incident.
The accused driver is said to have later applied sudden brakes, causing Rathod to fall onto the road. He was then taken to a nearby hospital in Shivajinagar.
Ravindra Kadam said police got to know about the incident after the videos were shared on the internet.
Police officials later reached the hospital where Rathod was treated and tracked down the woman after identifying her car’s registration number.
The couple and their child, who were hit by the car, have sustained minor injuries.
