Gaimukh Ghat on Ghodbunder Highway to Get Durable Makeover
The Gaimukh Ghat stretch on Ghodbunder Highway is a key route linking Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Gujarat, Nashik and North Maharashtra. It is set for a long-lasting repair. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, during an inspection on August 8, said the upgrade aims to handle the heavy daily traffic more effectively, as per the Times of India.
Previous fixes on this 800-metre section repeatedly failed, especially during monsoons when potholes and flooding caused severe traffic jams reaching Thane city.
The 14-km highway, which passes through Thane and Mira Bhayander, reportedly carries nearly a lakh vehicles daily, with commuters long complaining about the poor road condition and frequent congestion.
