A Mumbai woman has gone viral after angrily confronting Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan over a massive traffic jam allegedly caused by a political rally in Worli, with many on social media calling
her the voice of ordinary commuters.
The clip, shared by X user Prashant Dhumal, captures the woman shouting at officials and demanding that the road be cleared. Mahajan was reportedly speaking to the media about women’s reservation issues when the woman approached him in the middle of the gathering.
According to reports, the disruption took place during a protest march organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the Mahayuti alliance. The demonstration was aimed at the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), including Congress and its allies, over the issue of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
The march was scheduled to begin at 5 pm and reportedly saw a large turnout of women participants. The route began from Jambhori Maidan in Worli and was set to conclude at the Dome. Since the Jambhori Maidan area is densely populated and already witnesses heavy traffic, delays in the rally allegedly led to severe congestion across nearby roads.
One local woman, who was reportedly on her way to pick up her child from school, became stranded in the traffic for a long period. Frustrated by the situation, she stepped out of her vehicle and walked into the middle of the rally to confront Mahajan and police personnel.
In the video, she can be heard angrily saying, “What is wrong with you? There are hundreds of people waiting, “Get out of here, yaha se iss traffic ko hatao, shut up”.
She also questioned why political leaders were addressing crowds in the middle of an active road when there was open space available nearby. Pointing towards the adjacent ground, she shouted, “There are hundreds of people waiting. There is an empty ground there!”
The woman further criticised the police, alleging that officers appeared more focused on managing the convoy and rally than clearing the traffic for ordinary commuters. When police personnel tried to intervene, she reportedly insisted on speaking to senior officials before officers eventually moved her to the side of the road and listened to her concerns.
The incident quickly went viral online, with many social media users praising the woman for speaking up against the inconvenience caused by VIP movement and political rallies.
“There is a single women who is seen fighting for her right but the thing many of them didn’t even realise that it is their right to protect their time why to waste unnecessary time in traffic and most importantly the literate police is there to protect illiterate politicians,” said one user.
“Absolute queen. We see every now and then we are waiting in traffic to go to work because some politician wants his convoy to pass freely. I dream of the day all the people get pissed off and pelt some stones on them , bitch take a helicopter we have work to do,” said another.
“This is the true warrior woman. She has nothing to do with your selfish politics. She’s in pain, that’s why she’s expressing herself. Salute to this sister’s boldness. But the blind devotees have completely lost the ability to think. They’re just living their lives like sheep,” commented another user.
