A Goa court on Monday sent the Luthra brothers to judicial custody till January 9. The two brothers are the owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora village, which was gutted by a fire on December
6.
Soon after the incident, they allegedly left India and flew to Thailand. They were brought back to the country after being deported on December 17.
As of now, Goa Police have arrested eight people in connection with the case. As the investigation continues, the police are probing the role of various individuals linked to the operation and management of the nightclub.
At the same time, the officials have begun steps to seek a Blue Corner Notice against Surinder Kumar Khosla, a British citizen who has also been named in the case. Investigators believe he has left India and returned to the United Kingdom.
The fire incident on December 6 has sparked strong public anger and renewed debate over poor fire safety standards and weak monitoring of nightlife venues in Goa. The matter is scheduled to come up for hearing again on December 29.
