Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh entered his name in an unwanted list on Tuesday (March 1) by bowling an 11-ball over. Arshdeep, who is India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is, bowled an 11-ball over for Punjab
Kings in their IPL 2026 opener against Gujarat Titans.
In the fixture taking place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, Arshdeep was given the responsibility of bowling the last over of GT’s innings. However, he bowled four wides and one no-ball before completing six legal deliveries.
In the past, five other bowlers — Mohammed Siraj, Tushar Deshpande, Shardul Thakur, Sandeep Sharma and Hardik Pandya — have also bowled an 11-ball over in the IPL.
Siraj, who is part of GT’s IPL 2026 squad, was the first bowler in IPL history to bowl an 11-ball over. He registered the unwanted feat while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2023 match against Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In the 2025 edition of the IPL, three players delivered 11 balls to complete an over.
Longest over bowled in the IPL (in balls)
- 11 – Mohammed Siraj (RCB) vs MI, Bengaluru, 2023 (Over #19)
- 11 – Tushar Deshpande (CSK) vs LSG, Chennai, 2023 (Over #4)
- 11 – Shardul Thakur (LSG) vs KKR, Kolkata, 2025 (Over #13)
- 11 – Sandeep Sharma (RR) vs DC, Delhi, 2025 (Over #20)
- 11 – Hardik Pandya (MI) vs GT, Wankhede, 2025 (Over #8)
- 11 – Arshdeep Singh (PBKS) vs GT, Mullanpur, 2026 (Over #20)
Arshdeep, who is PBKS’ highest wicket-taker in IPL history, overall bowled four overs for the Shreyas Iyer & Co. on Tuesday but was not able to take even one wicket and conceded 42 runs.
Had Arshdeep managed to take three wickets in the ongoing fixture against Titans, he would have entered his name in the history books by becoming the first bowler to take 100 wickets in the cash-rich league for Punjab Kings. As of now, he has 97 wickets to his name in 84 IPL matches for PBKS since making his debut for them in the 2019 edition.
While it is a forgettable day for Arshdeep, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yuzvendra Chahal and Marco Jansen have impressed with their bowling. Vijaykumar Vyshak dismissed three GT batters for 34 runs in his quota of four overs, and two GT batters – Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler – were sent back to the pavilion by Chahal.
