Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana: Part 1 is all set to hit theatres this Diwali, but there has been no confirmation about when the trailer of the film will be released. Following the July 24 postponement, fans
are eagerly awaiting an update on the trailer release of the mythological drama. While an official date announcement is yet to be made, the film’s producer, Namit Malhotra, has given an update.
During a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2026, producer Namit Malhotra, as quoted by Variety India, spoke about the worldwide release of the film’s trailer and said, “We announced right before the panel that Sony Pictures Entertainment is going to be distributing Ramayana globally. It also means the trailers are hot on the heels. We showed the trailer at the panel, and we are going to be launching that very, very soon. Stay tuned; it could be any day.”
Exclusive Footage Unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con
While the scheduled online release of the Ramayana trailer was postponed from July 24, the exclusive footage was shown to nearly 4,800 people at the San Diego Comic-Con.

While Ranbir Kapoor is playing Lord Ram in Ramayana, Yash will be seen essaying Ravana. Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi will also be seen as Goddess Sita in the movie. Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey will play the roles of Hanuman and Lakshman, respectively. On the other hand, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Mandodari and Surpanakha. Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan are also part of the project.
Ramayana: Part 1 is slated for a theatrical release this Diwali, while the second chapter will be released on Diwali 2027.
Ramayana: Part 1 Teaser
Earlier this year, in April, the team unveiled an introductory teaser, Rama, to coincide with Hanuman Jayanti. Running for 2 minutes and 38 seconds, the teaser offered the first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. It, too, was granted a ‘U’ certificate by the CBFC. Planned as a two-part cinematic saga, Ramayana is set for a worldwide IMAX release. The first instalment is scheduled to hit theatres during Diwali 2026, followed by the second chapter on Diwali 2027.
