The El Clasico is back to make your weekend electrifying. The Chepauk will echo with fans’ cheers when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) host Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday evening. The last time they met, at Wankhede,
Sanju Samson’s century guided CSK to a 103-run win. Battered and bruised MI will look to seek revenge, which is now necessary for their survival in IPL 2026.
But before locking horns, brotherhood prevailed at Chepauk. MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav posed together for a picture, shared by Suryakumar on his official X handle.
“Group DP mil gaya. Bas group name suggest karo,” the MI batter wrote.

With their IPL 2026 campaigns on the line, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians clash in a must-win encounter on Saturday, both desperate to stay alive in the playoff race.
Two of the league’s most successful sides have struggled for consistency this season. CSK, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, have been patchy despite familiar conditions at Chepauk. Their middle order has faltered, while the bowling unit has failed to close out games under pressure.
MI’s campaign has followed a similar script. Despite strong starts from the top order, their fragile middle order and inconsistent bowling attack have cost them crucial matches, including a failed defence of 243 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
CSK, currently sixth with three wins from eight matches, are also dealing with the absence of MS Dhoni, who remains sidelined with a calf injury. Sanju Samson has led their batting with over 300 runs, while Jamie Overton has starred with the ball.
MI, placed ninth, face a tougher road, needing to win all remaining matches to keep their playoff hopes alive.
