Sara Arjun, known for her role as Yalina Jamali Mazari in Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, found herself at the centre of an unexpected online controversy. A post attributed to her name appeared to take a dig
at Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. But the actress had nothing to do with the viral post.
Releasing on March 19, the sequel to Dhurandhar has been one of the most anticipated films, with fans eagerly awaiting the action-packed instalment. Initially, the film was set to clash with Toxic, but the makers of Yash’s movie postponed its release to June 4 due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Despite this, fans continued to compare the two films online, which set the stage for the viral post.
Raj Arjun Steps In With Clarification
A post circulated from an X (formerly Twitter) account purportedly belonging to Sara, carried the tagline “No toxicity, only Dhurandhar.” The timing of the post, just before the trailer launch of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, led many to believe that Sara was mocking the other film. The message went viral, which led her father, Raj Arjun, to step in.
He took to Instagram Stories to address the controversy. He clarified that Sara does not have an account on X and is active only on Instagram. “Hi everyone, a fake account is circulating a post in Sara’s name saying, ‘No toxicity, only Dhurandhar.’ For clarity—Sara is not on Twitter—and she would never write something like this,” he wrote.
Raj also emphasised that Sara would never demean another film to promote her own. “We belong to the same film industry, which is like one big family for us. Sara has been brought to respect every artist and every film. She would be the last person to promote her work by speaking negatively about anyone,” he added.
The actor urged fans to be cautious about accounts pretending to be his daughter. “Sara is only on Instagram. Any other account anywhere else in her name is FAKE. Please don’t believe or spread such posts—a concerned father,” he wrote.
