Mohit Suri may have spent nearly two decades in the industry, but it was Saiyaara in 2025 that brought him closer to a younger audience, thanks to its fresh pairing of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. While
the director is yet to officially announce his next project, recent chatter around a possible collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor has sparked curiosity.
Mohit Suri On Working With Ranbir Kapoor
During a conversation on The Pooja Bhatt Show, actor-producer Pooja Bhatt brought up the speculation directly, asking Mohit about his rumoured project with Ranbir Kapoor and how he plans to approach it.
Mohit, however, chose to remain guarded, steering the conversation towards his journey as a filmmaker instead of confirming any collaboration.
Reflecting on his career, he spoke about never truly belonging to a single creative space. Despite his association with Vishesh Films, he emphasised that he has always operated across different ecosystems, working with banners like Balaji Telefilms and Luv Ranjan’s production.
He also pointed out a creative trap he consciously avoids—repeating past successes.
“When you try and repeat the same thing that worked for you again and again, it’s the law of diminishing returns,” he said, hinting at his constant pursuit of reinvention.
‘I’ve Never Worked With A Star’
Interestingly, Mohit added that despite making several successful films, he has never approached his work with the mindset of collaborating with “stars.”
“I don’t have the aspiration to make the biggest-budget film in the country. I want to make the best film in the country,” he said.
At the same time, he acknowledged that actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Vicky Kaushal bring more than just star power to the table.
“Working with Ranbir, Ranveer, Vicky… they are good actors also. It’s not just about working with a star. I’m not doing this for a pay cheque. I’m interested in raising the bar for myself.”
Earlier Denial And Mutual Respect
Interestingly, in a previous interview, Mohit had clarified that Ranbir Kapoor is not part of his next film—at least for now.
“Ranbir Kapoor is not in my next film. I genuinely want to work with him, and I hope he feels the same way. We’ve met and discussed the possibility, but nothing is final yet,” he had said.
He also shared an anecdote that reflects Ranbir’s admiration for his work, revealing that the actor once praised Awaarapan—a film that didn’t perform well commercially but remains one of Mohit’s most personal projects.
“Normally, actors talk about your biggest hit. Ranbir spoke about a flop film of mine and called it one of my best,” he noted.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Upcoming Projects
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor has a packed slate ahead. He will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he plays Lord Rama, alongside Sai Pallavi and Yash. The film is slated for a Diwali 2026 release.
He is also attached to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
While a Mohit Suri-Ranbir Kapoor collaboration hasn’t been confirmed yet, the possibility alone has already piqued interest—especially given Mohit’s inclination towards emotionally charged storytelling and Ranbir’s reputation for layered performances.
