Shimla, Apr 22 (PTI) The Meteorological Centre here on Wednesday issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by gusty winds at isolated places in several districts of Himachal from
April 25 to 28, even as dry weather prevailed in the region. The warning is for Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi districts, where winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are likely, the MeT office said. Minimum temperatures saw marginal fluctuations, with Kukumseri recording the lowest at 3.8 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest during the day at 38.7 degrees Celsius. The MeT office has forecast light rain and snowfall at isolated places on April 24, 26, 27 and 28, and light to moderate precipitation at a few places on April 25. It also predicted a gradual rise of two to four degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures across many parts of the state over the next 48 hours, with no significant change in maximum temperatures during the next four to five days. Meanwhile, the state has received 61.2 mm of average rainfall in April so far against the normal 47.9 mm, registering an excess of 28 per cent. Except for the tribal districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti, which recorded deficits of 36 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively, all other districts have received excess rainfall, the MeT office said. A yellow alert serves as a cautionary signal for severe bad weather expected to last several days. It warns that conditions may deteriorate further, potentially disrupting daily routines and activities.
