Central Railway has temporarily cancelled several key express trains after a landslide in the Karjat-Lonavala ghat section disrupted rail traffic. The decision was taken as a safety precaution, with train cancellations
affecting multiple routes between July 10 and July 17, 2026. Restoration work on the affected stretch is underway on a war footing.
According to Central Railway, trains on the Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolhapur, Hubballi, Indore, Daund, Jodhpur and Shirdi routes have been hit by the landslide. Rail traffic through the ghat section has been significantly impacted, and railway staff are working on-site to restore the damaged stretch as quickly as possible.
