Sobhita Dhulipala is currently gearing up for her next OTT release, Cheekatilo. Recently, the trailer was also released, and it received positive responses. However, she has also opened up about what convinced
her to take on the lead role in the upcoming Telugu crime thriller, revealing that a powerful character and innovative storytelling were key factors in her decision.
Recently, the actress revealed why she opted for the suspense thriller. “What attracted me immediately was the attitude of the character Sandhya. She is gutsy, has a strong sense of authority, leadership qualities, yet she is also a very normal girl. The podcast angle and the new-age storytelling felt refreshing. All these elements together convinced me to come on board. This is an Amazon Prime Video production, and I had earlier worked with them on Made in Heaven. When this script came to them, they considered me for the role. It has been a long time since I did something in Telugu. I explored Hindi OTT projects, but I also wanted to step into Telugu OTT, and Cheekatilo felt like the right choice. I believe this character will bring me closer to Telugu audiences,” Sobhita was quoted saying.

Set against a rapidly evolving Hyderabad, Cheekatilo follows Sandhya, a criminology graduate and true-crime podcaster played by Sobhita Dhulipala. What begins as an investigative podcast soon spirals into a dangerous pursuit when a shocking murder uncovers clues linked to a serial killer whose crimes date back nearly two decades. As Sandhya uses her podcast as a weapon to provoke and expose the truth, the narrative turns into a tense game of cat and mouse, blurring the lines between hunter and hunted. The trailer teases a nerve-racking journey filled with buried secrets, emotional reckonings, and the constant threat of violence, raising the central question: will Sandhya succeed in unmasking the killer, or will she become his next target?

Directed by Sharan Kopishetty and produced by D. Suresh Babu under the banner of Suresh Productions, Cheekatilo is written by Chandra Pemmaraju and Sharan Kopishetty. The film stars Viswadev Rachakonda in a key role alongside an ensemble cast that includes Chaitanya Visalakshmi, Esha Chawla, Jhansi, Aamani, and Vadlamani Srinivas.
