Box office numbers are going wild right now, and Dhurandhar 2 seems to be leading the charge. The film is not just drawing crowds but it’s quietly inching towards rewriting history with every passing day.
The Ranveer Singh-led spy thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar, has crossed a major milestone by entering the Rs 1,000 crore club at the domestic box office. Within just 18 days of its release, the film has collected Rs 1,013.77 crore (net) in India, making it the first Bollywood film to achieve this feat.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Dhurandhar: The Revenge earned Rs 34.44 crore on its 18th day. With this, its total gross collection in India stands at Rs 1,213.74 crore. The film has maintained a steady pace at the ticket window, showing strong momentum even in its third week.
With these numbers, Dhurandhar 2 is now on track to surpass the lifetime domestic collection of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, which earned Rs 1,030.42 crore (net) in India. The Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer has long held the record, but the gap is rapidly narrowing.
The film’s success is not limited to India. Earlier, after Dhurandhar 2 overtook Baahubali 2’s record in the United States, actor Rana Daggubati reacted in an interview with Variety India. He said, “It’s good. It’s a decade later, but it’s still very good. I think we’re all still touching the tip of the iceberg.” He continued to praise both films while noting that rooted storytelling continues to connect with audiences globally.
Looking ahead, Dhurandhar 2 could challenge another major benchmark — the lifetime collection of Pushpa 2, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, which earned Rs 1,234.10 crore (net) in India.
Despite the massive success, filmmaker Aditya Dhar appears to be staying away from the spotlight. In an interview with Zoom, actor Mustafa Ahmed shared insights into the director’s approach, saying, “You can see like he’s away from all of this. He doesn’t care what he has created. He’s somewhere enjoying himself with the family. Very few people that he hangs around with, very few people are his friends,” he said. He added that Dhar ensures the people he works with feel valued.
