Relentless rain continue to lash parts of Mumbai and several other districts of Maharashtra, causing waterlogging and traffic jams. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert
in Mumbai for Monday. While a red alert is in place in multiple districts and cities of Maharashtra, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Kolhapur, and Pune.
The rainy spell continued in Mumbai on Sunday as well. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), six short circuits, 19 tree or branch falls, and two wall collapse incidents were reported in the metropolis during the day. However, nobody was injured in these accidents, the civic body said.
Mumbai and its suburbs have been witnessing heavy rains since Saturday, with some parts recording more than 200 mm of rain in the wee hours, inundating low-lying areas. Rain-related incidents claimed two lives in Vikhroli on Saturday.
