At the inaugural NMACC dinner celebrating the opening of the India Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Isha Ambani made a quiet yet striking fashion statement —
one that blended Parisian couture with the timeless drape of the Indian sari.
Hosted alongside her mother, Nita Ambani, the evening unfolded inside the historic Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice, bringing together artists, designers, collectors and cultural voices from around the world. But amid the art and conversation, Isha’s look became a beautiful reflection of the very spirit the evening stood for: heritage meeting contemporary expression.
For the occasion, Isha wore a custom Chanel Haute Couture sari gown inspired by the fashion house’s iconic Look 72 from its Spring/Summer 1989 collection. Instead of recreating the archival silhouette exactly as it was, the ensemble reinterpreted vintage Chanel through an Indian lens — transforming the structure of couture into the fluid elegance of a sari.
