French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent India visit had many diplomatic highlights, but it was his interaction with Anil Kapoor that truly became the talk of the town. Amid these interactions, an interesting
moment unfolded during a rapid-fire chat with Brut India.
When asked about his favourite Bollywood actor, the French President Emmanuel Macron responded with a smile, “I mean, yesterday I mentioned Jai Ho, so I would say Anil Kapoor.”
Set against the iconic backdrop of the Gateway of India, the French President engaged with some of the most influential voices from India’s arts and entertainment fraternity. At the forefront of this cultural confluence stood Anil Kapoor, representing the global resonance of Indian cinema with effortless gravitas.
Sharing a photograph from the meeting, Anil Kapoor wrote, “Spent an inspiring afternoon with President Emmanuel Macron and his gracious better half, Brigitte, exchanging thoughts on cinema, culture, and the powerful bridge between India and France.”
As he continues to serve as one of Indian cinema’s most recognisable global forces, Anil Kapoor’s professional slate remains equally commanding. He will next be seen in Subedaar, directed by Suresh Triveni, releasing on March 5 on Amazon Prime Video.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, the action drama stars Radhikka Madan alongside Kapoor. The actor has also co-produced the film and will be seen portraying a retired army officer who is forced back into combat mode when his family is threatened. Set in India’s heartland, Subedaar follows Arjun Singh, a former soldier grappling with civilian life, unresolved trauma from his past, and a strained bond with his daughter.
Kapoor completed dubbing for Subedaar in October last year. Director Suresh Triveni marked the milestone by sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the dubbing studio featuring Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla, both deeply focused on their performances. The image highlighted the film’s grounded tone and emotional weight, offering a glimpse into its intense narrative world.
This will be followed by Family Business, part of Netflix’s upcoming slate, proving that while world leaders may name him a favourite, audiences worldwide are eagerly awaiting his next powerful act.
