A petition has reportedly been filed before the Madras High Court requesting a halt on the release of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge in Tamil Nadu, citing concerns related to the model code of conduct
in place ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
According to Live Law, an advocate reportedly made an oral submission before Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan, contending that the film carries political themes and should not be screened during the election period. With Tamil Nadu heading to the polls in a month, the timing of the release has become a matter of concern.
However, the bench asked the petitioner to file a formal writ petition before seeking an urgent hearing on the issue. A decision on whether the film’s release will be stalled is likely only after the court considers the plea.
