Mumbai marina to create over 2,000 jobs
The marina will cover approximately 12 hectares. A hybrid model involves the Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) investing ₹470 crore in marine infrastructure and a private operator investing ₹417 crore for onshore facilities. The project is expected to create over 2,000 jobs.
It is part of the broader Eastern Waterfront redevelopment project.

How Mumbai marina will be a premier tourism destination
While primarily a maritime hub, its luxury onshore and public amenities are designed to transform the waterfront into a premier tourism destination. This major project features specialised marine infrastructure such as:
Onshore Leisure Facilities: Plans include a star hotel with 322 rooms (spanning 27,000 sqm) and a large clubhouse covering 4,000 sqm.
Maritime Tourism & Education: The site will house a dedicated marina terminal building, the Namo Bharat International Sailing School, and a maritime tourism development centre.
Public Waterfront: A waterfront promenade with controlled public access and various recreational facilities are being developed to open the coastline for leisure.
Yacht Infrastructure: The marina will offer berthing for 424 yachts up to 30 metres in length, along with dedicated yacht storage, stacking, and repair yards.
Ancillary Facilities: A multi-level car park and a tourism business centre spanning 32,000 sqm are also part of the onshore plans.

Where will the marina come up in south Mumbai?
The Viksit Bharat Mumbai Marina project is located in Mumbai Harbour, specifically centered around the Princess (Princes) and Victoria Docks in South Mumbai. It is located near the passenger terminal at Bhaucha Dhakka (Ferry Wharf) on land owned by the Mumbai Port Authority. The onshore facilities and primary access points are in the Mazgaon area.

What is Eastern Waterfront Development Project?
The Eastern Waterfront Development Project is a massive urban renewal initiative aimed at transforming approximately 1,800 acres (966 hectares) of underutilised port lands along Mumbai’s eastern coast. Stretching roughly 28–30 km from Colaba in the south to Wadala in the north, it is managed by the Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA).
