Prithviraj Sukumaran has officially wrapped up the shoot for his upcoming film Khalifa, and fans now have a major update to look forward to. The actor took to social media to announce the completion of filming
while also revealing the release date for Khalifa Part 1. The film will be in two parts. The second part details has not been shared.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Prithviraj Sukumaran shared the photo with the team and wrote, “It’s a WRAP on #KHALIFA ! Aamir Ali will follow Rajeevan..The smuggler will meet you after the nobody! KHALIFA Part 1. In theatres worldwide from 20th August 2026!” In no time it went viral as the film also stars Mohanlal in the major role. One of the fans wrote, “Peak item loading”. Another wrote, “Grand onam feast loading most most awaited Malayalam biggie this year.”

Mohanlal Joins Khalifa As Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali
Mohanlal has also joined Khalifa and will be playing Prithviraj Sukumaran’s grandfather and the makers have also shared an introduction poster. Taking to their X handle, Sreedhar Pillai the poster and announced character name, Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali. The film will be in two-part series, with the first instalment titled ‘The Intro’ focusing on the introduction and bloody history of the Mambarakkal family empire. The sequel will be out the reign of Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali. The poster features bloodstained hand holding a cigar, stacked gold biscuits, and a revolver.
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s work front
The actor will be next seen in I, Nobody. With direction by Nissam Basheer and the script by Sameer Abdul, I, Nobody has the support of Prithviraj Productions and E4 Entertainment. The two, who collaborated and gave the well-acclaimed movie Rorschach (2022), are going to be back together for this ambitious project. This is the fifth project of Parvathy and Prithviraj together after City of God, Ennu Ninte Moideen, My Story, and Koode, their previous four collaborations.

Sharing a picture of his sinful indulgence on his Instagram Stories, the actor penned, “End of a schedule that I have worked immensely hard for. Cheat meal well earned. See you in theatres, April 7, 2027. #Varanasi.” In 2025, the first look poster of Prithviraj was released. He was seen seated on an automated wheelchair. He maintained a stern expression on his face as he also looked scary and dangerous. “After canning the first shot with Prithvi, I walked up to him and said you are one of the finest actors I’ve ever known. Bringing life to this sinister, ruthless, powerful antagonist KUMBHA was creatively very satisfying. Thank you Prithvi for slipping into his chair… literally,” Rajamouli wrote.
