Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela’s Parasakthi is currently running in theatres. The Tamil film, which released on January 10, was initially slated for a box-office clash with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan. However,
the Vijay-starrer was delayed and did not release as scheduled due to a censorship issue with the CBFC.
Amid the controversy, Parasakthi director Sudha Kongara has now reacted to the situation. While expressing disappointment over the delay in Jana Nayagan’s release, she also made it clear that she is one of Vijay’s biggest fans.
Sudha Kongara Says, “I am Vijay’s biggest fan”
In an interview with India Today, Sudha Kongara spoke about Thalapathy Vijay and also revealed that she was supposed to do a film with him. She said, “I love Vijay, probably I am his biggest fan and there is no two ways about it. Because I have met him and told him the same. We were at one point supposed to do a film together. That did not pan out due to various reasons.”
Parasakthi director on Jana Nayagan delay
Speaking about Jana Nayagan’s release, which was originally scheduled to hit theatres on the same day as Parasakthi, the director said, “Now all this that is happening, where his film was supposed to come with us… at the audio launch the first thing I said that my film I will watch 200 times but FDFS I will go watch Vijay’s film.”
She added, “I wanted the film to release so badly. What happened to Jana Nayagan, where just two days before release, the censors held you back… it should not happen to any film. It was never our intention to compete with his film, how do you compete with the biggest star in the country? You cannot.”
Sudha Kongara says Vijay fans are boycotting Parasakthi
A few days back, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sudha said that Parasakthi is not performing well at the box office because Vijay fans are boycotting the film. She said, “There is slandering, defamation of the worst kind, hiding behind unknown IDs. We have to counter that.”
The Parashakti director read out a tweet that asked her to apologise to Vijay’s fans. The post reads: “It is not a big deal to get a CBFC certificate. Apologise to fans of Anna—Vijay—and get that apology certificate. There is one more week. They will forgive you. Parasakthi will run.”
Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi features Sivakarthikeyan, Atharvaa Murali and Ravi Mohan in pivotal roles. As for Jana Nayagan, it is directed by H Vinoth.
