Iran has released new footage of its elite army commandos accompanied by a defiant warning aimed at the United States, just as thousands of American paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division begin arriving
in the Middle East amid the escalating war.
In a video circulated by Iranian state-linked outlet Press TV, Iran’s army showcased its special forces and declared that it was prepared to confront and defeat American soldiers. The clip prominently featured the phrase “Come Close’, signalling a direct challenge to any possible US ground move in the region.

The timing of the video is significant.
According to Reuters, thousands of troops from the US Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division have started reaching West Asia, as President Donald Trump weighs his next military steps in the conflict with Iran. The paratroopers, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, are part of a broader American military build-up that now includes additional sailors, Marines, Special Operations forces, and support units. About 2,500 Marines had already arrived in the region over the weekend.
The newly deployed forces reportedly include elements of the 82nd Airborne headquarters, logistics and support personnel, and one brigade combat team.
US officials told Reuters that no final decision has been made to send troops into Iran, but the build-up is meant to strengthen Washington’s ability to carry out possible future operations if required.
Message from Tehran
The release of the Iranian military footage appears designed to send a clear message: Tehran is preparing for the possibility of direct confrontation if the conflict shifts from air and missile warfare to boots on the ground.
Notably, Iran’s foreign minister in the earlier stages of the war had warned the US against a ground invasion.
Iranian officials and military commanders have repeatedly warned that any US ground incursion would be met with fierce retaliation, and state media have increasingly used symbolic and psychological messaging to project readiness.
The “Come Close” video adds to that campaign, portraying Iran’s elite forces as battle-ready and willing to face American troops directly if the war expands.
War Signals Getting More Serious
The development comes at a time when the conflict is increasingly moving into a phase of military positioning, psychological signalling, and contingency planning.
While diplomacy is still being publicly discussed by Washington, the arrival of the 82nd Airborne — one of the US military’s most deployable rapid-reaction forces- has intensified speculation that the Pentagon is preparing for more than just defensive posturing.
For now, there is no confirmation of a planned ground invasion. But with Iran warning “come close” and US airborne forces moving into the theatre, the war is beginning to look increasingly prepared for the possibility of a much more dangerous next phase.
