BMC election results: Mumbaiites have elected as many as 12 ‘Gen-Z’ corporators, with 22-year-old Kashish Phulwaria being the youngest. This batch of young corporators, which includes doctors, MBAs and
designers, want to solve the problems of the ward through technology and a fresh approach.
Kashish Phulwari: The youngest winner in 2026 BMC elections
Kashish Phulwaria has won from Ward 151 (M-West) on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. She is the daughter of former corporator Rajesh Phulwaria. Kashish, who holds a BMS degree, is currently pursuing an MBA. Her ward includes areas such as Thakkar Bappa Colony in Chembur and Chandivali.
Ward No. 151 was reserved for candidates from the Other Backward Class (Women) category for the 2026 election cycle. Phulwaria’s campaign focused on modernising governance and addressing local civic issues.
Disha Yadav, who was elected from Ward 80, is the daughter of two former corporators. Disha, a jewellery designer, runs her own startup. On the other hand, Dr Saman Azmi, who was elected from Ward 167, is a homeopathic doctor and the niece of veteran corporator Ashraf Azmi and daughter of Congress office-bearer Ashrad Azmi.

BMC election results and mayor
In the 227-seat BMC, the BJP won 89 seats, Shinde Sena 29, Sena UBT 65, Congress 24, AIMIM 8, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) 6, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) 3, SP 2 and NCP SP 1.
The Mumbai mayor lottery, which decided the reservation for the civic bodies’ top post, was held last week. The BMC will get a woman mayor from the general category in the next few days.
