Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave Panchayat fans a moment to smile about on Tuesday when he shared an Instagram reel featuring actors Durgesh Kumar and Ashok Pathak. The video went viral online, not just
because of the meeting, but because PM Modi used Panchayat’s popular theme music in the background for the reel!
The reel was shot during the Republic Summit and showed Modi greeting several guests, including Ram Charan and Upasana Konidela. Among those he met were Durgesh Kumar, who plays Bhushan and Ashok Pathak, known to viewers as Binod in the hit Prime Video series.
PM Modi was seen shaking hands with both actors and exchanging smiles. The reel’s caption read, “A few moments with Binod,” a nod to one of Panchayat’s most-loved characters.
Panchayat Continues Its Winning Run
The interaction comes at a time when Panchayat continues to enjoy massive popularity. The series recently returned with its fourth season, while Prime Video has already announced a fifth season.
The latest instalment also delivered the biggest opening in the show’s history, cementing its place as one of India’s most popular streaming shows.
Durgesh Kumar and Ashok Pathak have become fan favourites thanks to their performances as Bhushan, often called Banrakas, and Binod. Though both characters started out as supporting antagonists in Phulera, they gradually became some of the most loved faces on the show.

A Look At Durgesh Kumar And Ashok Pathak’s Films And OTT Series
For Durgesh, Panchayat added a milestone to a career that began gaining attention after his role in Highway. A graduate of the National School of Drama, he has also starred in films such as Sultan, Sanju, Dhadak and Bhakshak. His role in Panchayat grew significantly by the third season.
Ashok Pathak has starred in films including Bittoo Boss, Shanghai, A Death in the Gunj and 102 Not Out. While he has worked steadily in cinema over the years, Panchayat proved to be his breakthrough role and introduced Binod to a much wider audience.
Panchayat 5 Release Date
Meanwhile, fans eagerly waiting for Panchayat Season 5 have a fresh update from actor Faisal Malik, who plays Prahlad Pandey in the hit Prime Video series! Speaking about the progress of the upcoming season, Faisal revealed that the shoot is nearing completion, and will be wrapped up soon.
While season 4 premiered in June 2025, the release date of Panchayat season 5 hasn’t yet been announced.
