Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Coolie has finally hit the big screens, sparking jubilation among fans who have been eagerly awaiting the megastar’s return. The air of anticipation surrounding the Lokesh
Kanagaraj directorial was palpable for months, and now that it’s out, the internet is buzzing with audience reactions — and one of the most notable admirers to weigh in is none other than Dhanush.
The actor, who attended an early screening of Coolie, was spotted exiting the theatre in a now-viral video. In the clip, Dhanush can be seen smiling and giving a big thumbs up when asked about his thoughts on the film. While he didn’t verbalise a detailed review, his expression and gesture were enough to signal his wholehearted approval. Sporting a black T-shirt and bottoms for his early morning movie outing, the actor appeared in high spirits after seeing Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna light up the screen together.

Dhanush’s connection to the Thalaiva goes beyond fandom — he was married to Rajinikanth’s daughter, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, for nearly two decades before their split in 2024. The two tied the knot in November 2004 and share two sons, Yatra and Linga. While the separation made headlines last year, the actor has also been in the news recently over unconfirmed rumours of a romance with actress Mrunal Thakur.
Professionally, Dhanush was last seen in Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, where he played the role of a beggar entangled in a web of crime and morality. The film also starred Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh in pivotal roles.
As for Coolie, early reactions from the public have been a mix of euphoria and tempered expectations. While a large section of fans have lauded Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction, stylish action, and Rajinikanth’s electrifying presence, others have voiced disappointment, saying the film didn’t quite match the colossal hype. Nevertheless, with its August 14 release, the movie has already cemented itself as one of the most talked-about Indian films of the season.
