People often complain that auto and bike taxi drivers ask for extra money on top of the fare shown in the app. Whether it is Ola, Uber or Rapido, many users say they are asked to add Rs 30 or Rs 50 and sometimes
even Rs 100 just to get a ride. This has become a daily struggle, especially during busy hours.
Now, a new feature on Rapido has triggered fresh anger online. A man from Bengaluru took to Reddit to rant about the app after seeing an alert that pushed him to add extra money almost instantly.
User Slams Rapido’s Feature
In his post, he shared a screenshot from the Rapido app. At the top of the image, it showed a message saying, “Captains aren’t accepting at Rs 200. Try adding more.” Below it, options like +Rs 35, +Rs 45, +Rs 55, and +Rs 65 were displayed. The man was frustrated that the app pushed this suggestion within seconds of searching for a ride.
He posted the screenshot with the title, “This has got to be the worst feature any app has ever introduced.” He also added a caption below the photo that read, “The fact that Rapido doesn’t even wait for 30 seconds before showing me this shit pisses me off.”

The post, shared a few hours ago, quickly drew attention. It gained more than 1,800 upvotes and several comments from users who said they were facing the same issue.
Users React With Frustration
A user wrote, “Am I the only one irritated by that icon.”
Another added, “I like to imagine he’s blocking the slap I’m about to give him lol.”
A person called it, “Digitalised bargain.” Another user commented, “Couldn’t agree with you more. Its just an arbitrary fare at this point. Its no longer that from X to Y its ‘this’ to travel. Its like random pricing.”
People Share Their Own Experiences
Many users said they have stopped relying on apps altogether. An individual wrote, “I don’t disagree. I have deleted all of these apps. Now, I use public transportation or my scooter if public transportation is not available.”
Another called it a cheat system, saying, “I have been meaning to write about this. It’s outright fraudulent. They purposely jack up the prices and also ask you to pay extra, highlighting no one is accepting. So pay extra. It’s daylight scam!”
A user summed it up saying, “The irony. These apps worked because it eliminated the hassle of bargaining.” Someone else added, “The minute you add a tip, an auto appears. Magic. Till then, they don’t care.”
