Heavy monsoon showers continued to disrupt normal life in Gurugram on Wednesday, a day after torrential rainfall left roads waterlogged, triggered cave-ins on key stretches, caused massive traffic snarls
and prompted authorities to advise corporate offices to allow employees to work from home.
As repair work continued on the damaged Delhi-Jaipur highway (NH-48), commuters faced fresh congestion on Wednesday morning.
A nearly one-kilometre-long traffic jam was reported near Behrampur after one carriageway remained affected due to repairs following the cave-in near Narsinghpur.

Earlier, Gurugram Police had appealed to corporate establishments to encourage employees to work from home for the next few days to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate smoother movement of emergency services.
“We strongly urge the corporate sector and private establishments to encourage Work from Home (WFH) arrangements for their employees for the next few days,” the advisory mentioned.
“Minimising non-essential vehicular movement will greatly assist our traffic management teams in maintaining traffic flow and ensuring emergency services remain unobstructed. We appreciate your cooperation in prioritising the safety and well-being of our citizens,” it stated.
NH-48 CAVES IN, TRAFFIC HIT
The main carriageway on the Delhi-Jaipur highway (NH-48) caved in near Narsinghpur on Tuesday evening following heavy rainfall, forcing authorities to begin urgent repair work.
The damage affected traffic movement on the crucial arterial road, with visuals on Wednesday showing slow-moving vehicles and long queues as repair work continued.
According to PTI, the cave-in forced the closure of two lanes, triggering massive traffic congestion between Hero Honda Chowk and the Kherki Daula Toll Plaza.
Gurugram Police issued a traffic advisory and diverted vehicles travelling from Delhi towards Jaipur.
Apart from the NH-48 collapse, another road cave-in was reported on Civil Line Road, where the tyres of two parked vehicles got badly stuck after a recently excavated stretch gave way following the heavy rain.

SCHOOL BUS GETS STUCK AMID ROAD COLLAPSE
The rain-related disruption also affected school transport. A school bus met with an accident on NH-48 after it got stuck when a portion of the road caved in amid the heavy rainfall.
No injuries were immediately reported in the incident.

On Tuesday, another school bus had fallen into an open drain on NH-48 during the heavy rain. Fortunately, there were no students on board at the time.
The heavy rainfall, which lashed Gurugram between 2 pm and 4 pm on Tuesday, caused severe waterlogging across several parts of the city. Roads remained inundated, slowing traffic and leaving commuters stranded for hours.
Long traffic jams were reported from several major stretches, including Narsinghpur along the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road, Udyog Vihar, Basai, Khandsa Road, Old Delhi Road and Pataudi Road, among others.
DELHI-NCR LIKELY TO SEE MORE RAIN
Delhi-NCR witnessed another spell of heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) continuing to keep Delhi under a yellow alert.
The weather department has forecast generally cloudy skies along with intermittent light rain, isolated moderate showers, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over the next few days.
While the alert level is expected to be downgraded to green later this week, wet weather conditions are likely to persist across the National Capital Region.
