Dhurandhar Part 1 and 2 has ruled the box office, and now while Part 2 of the movie continues its successful run in India, the first instalment of Aditya Dhar’s directorial is set to make its theatrical
debut in Japan on 10th July 2026, marking yet another milestone in the film’s expanding international footprint.
The first instalment of the spy thriller, which hit theatres on December 5 worldwide, managed to make a strong mark. The film garnered a strong response at the box office, earning a total of Rs. 1328+ crores worldwide when it released globally.
Dhurandhar (Part 1) recorded a landmark performance internationally, emerging as the No. 1 Hindi film of all time in North America, while also becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever in Canada and Australia, and ranking among the top-performing Indian films in the UK.
What Dhurandhar is about
Dhurandhar is the first part of a two-film series. The story follows an Indian spy who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political underworld. The narrative draws from real geopolitical events, including the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and Operation Lyari.
The film features a large ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, along with Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt. Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, and Danish Pandor appear in key supporting roles.
About Dhurandhar Part 2
The story of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge follows Jaskirat Singh Rangi, played by Ranveer Singh, as he evolves into the fearsome Hamza Ali Mazari. After defeating mobster Rehman Dakait in the first film, Jaskirat has become firmly embedded in Karachi’s underworld, earning the nickname “Sher-e-Baloch.” Sara Arjun portrays Yalina, Hamza’s wife. The sequel goes deeper into his past, showing how Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, recruited him for the risky assignment. The plot focuses on his attempt to dismantle criminal networks and the financial backbone of terrorist operations, resulting in a psychological war with the mastermind. As tensions escalate, Major Iqbal, portrayed by Arjun Rampal, and SP Chaudhary Aslam, played by Sanjay Dutt, band together to track him down, setting up a dramatic encounter.
