Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants will open their IPL 2026 campaign on Wednesday (April 1). The match between the past and present teams of star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is scheduled
to take place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Pant, who is the most expensive player in IPL history, would like to come up with a big show with the bat this season after managing to score only one century in the cash-rich league last year for the Lucknow-based franchise.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals will have high expectations from the likes of Axar Patel and KL Rahul along with Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka. Nissanka, the highest run getter in T20Is for Sri Lanka, will make his IPL debut this year and will likely play as an opener for Delhi on Wednesday. Apart from him, Jammu and Kashmir’s fast bowler Auqib Nabi Dar is a player to watch out for Delhi.
Auqib, who was signed for Rs 8.40 crore by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026 auction, topped the wicket-takers list in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, and he is set to lead DC’s bowling attack along with Lungi Ngidi and Mukesh Kumar in Mitchell Starc’s absence.
