A social media post by a woman named Supriya has gone viral after she shared an email sent to the HR department, informing them she would continue working from home in support of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi’s recent appeal.
According to the viral post, Supriya informed her HR team that she would be working remotely until May 10, 2027, calling it her personal contribution towards the nation’s fuel-saving efforts amid rising oil prices and tensions in West Asia.
In the email screenshot shared on X, she wrote, “This is to inform you that I will be working from home till 10th May 2027, as per the request made by our PM Modi to support the work from home initiative for the next one year. This is the least I can do for my country. Thank you.”
Sharing the screenshot online, she captioned the post, “I’ve done my part for the nation… your turn now 🙌🏻”
The post quickly grabbed attention online, with users flooding the comments section with humorous takes and debates over work-from-home culture and corporate realities.
One user commented, “Hopefully it doesn’t turn into permanent home thing.”
Another wrote, “v r not questioning yr patriotism, Cos r already struggling to pay salaries & in addition such a move will create job losses & reduction in salaries. who will bear these costs when ppl r struggling to make thr emis payment. Creative solution to this problem & PM shd set an eg,”
A third user said, “I get the sarcastic tone😀. We all need to wait for our companies to officially go WFH. I see the pain we all go through in commuting to office in cities. I sincerely hope that this was a madeup screenshot. If it helps to convince your leadership use the attached infographic,”
Several users also imagined how HR teams might respond to the email.
“Dear Supriya, This is to inform you that you can ask your salary from Modi Ji. Thank you, Best regards, Your HR,” one user joked.
Another commented, “Stay safe 🫡 warna “work from home” se direct sirf “home” pe rehna pad jaaye without work,”
One of the most widely shared reactions read, “HR Replied: In fact, we’ve decided to take your patriotism even further. Effective immediately, you will be working from home permanently. We have relieved you of all duties, responsibilities, and that pesky salary that was clearly funding all those unnecessary commutes.”

Referring to habits developed during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister said, “During the Corona period, we adopted work from home, online meetings, video conferences and developed many such systems. We had also become accustomed to them.”
The statement came at a time when several countries, including the United States and Pakistan, were witnessing record fuel price spikes amid the ongoing Iran crisis and geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
