Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Suvendu Adhikari after he took oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, marking the BJP’s first government in the state. Follow LIVE Updates

post on X, PM Modi said, “Congratulations to Suvendu Adhikari Ji on taking the oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. He has established his identity as a leader closely connected with the people. He has come to know their hopes and aspirations very closely. I extend my heartiest best wishes to him for a successful tenure in the future.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shahdescribed the occasion as a “historic day” for Bengal and said Adhikari had become the first BJP Chief Minister of the state.
“Today’s day is historic for Bengal, as Shri @SuvenduWB ji has taken the oath as the first Chief Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party, dedicated to the people’s aspirations of Bengal and elected by the people,” Shah wrote on X.

He further said the swearing-in marked the beginning of “a new chapter of good governance, development, and public welfare” in West Bengal and expressed confidence that the state would move ahead on the path of “progress and prosperity”.
Shah also extended congratulations to other leaders who took oath as members of the Council of Ministers.
PM Modi arrived in Kolkata on Saturday to attend the oath-taking ceremony and bowed before the “jana shakti” of Bengal from the stage.
Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the first BJP CM of West Bengal. Governor RN Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Adhikari during a grand ceremony attended by PM Modi, Union ministers, chief ministers from NDA-ruled states, and senior BJP leaders.
Following Adhikari’s swearing-in, senior BJP leader and former state unit president Dilip Ghosh was sworn in as a minister in the new cabinet. BJP MLAs Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtania, Nisith Pramanik, and Kshudiram Tudu also took oath as ministers in the newly formed government.
