Harshit Rana made his international debut for Team India on November 22, 2024, during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, and since then he has also played in ODIs and T20Is for the Indian
men’s cricket team. The Delhi-based fast bowler was a member of India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 winning squad, and he also featured in the Asia Cup 2025 that India won by defeating Pakistan in the final on September 28, 2025.
The 24-year-old fast bowler, who will also play in the T20 World Cup 2026, has shared the Indian dressing room with the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and in a recent podcast, he opened up about his bond with Kohli and also recalled his first meeting with Kohli’s actor wife, Anushka Sharma.
Rana recalled that after India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai, he entered the Indian dressing room, where he met Anushka Sharma for the first time in his life.
According to Rana, since it was his first meeting with Anushka, he called her ‘ma’am’, to which Kohli pulled his leg by saying why he’s calling her ‘ma’am’ and said he should instead call her ‘bhabhi’.
“I entered the dressing room, and Anushka Sharma was also there. I was meeting her for the first time. So I called her ‘ma’am’. Then he told me, ‘Tu ma’am kyu bol raha hai inko? Bhabhi bol inko’, (Why are you calling her ‘ma’am? Call her bhabhi)” Harshit recalled.

“I told him that I am meeting her for the first time. Then he told her that I am like that, and just some time ago I poured champagne on him, and I am calling you ‘ma’am’ now,” he added.
