Kapil Sharma’s life has long been held up as a classic Indian success saga — a small-town boy from Punjab who turned his quick wit into superstardom. But even as he built a loyal fanbase, a persistent
rumour clung to him for years: Kapil was never on time. From industry whispers to light-hearted jabs from icons like Amitabh Bachchan and Juhi Chawla, the joke was that Kapil’s watch always ran hours late.
Now, Kiku Sharda says that version of Kapil no longer exists.
Kiku Sharda Says Kapil Shows Up “On Time, Every Time”
During a conversation on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Kiku — one of Kapil’s longest-running collaborators — revealed that the comedian has undergone a major shift in work discipline.
Kiku began by describing his own obsession with punctuality, “If I have to reach at 12, even being 15 minutes late stresses me out,” he said.
This prompted Ranveer to joke that being on time is practically “alien” in the entertainment industry. According to him, only a handful of actors like Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, and Sonakshi Sinha arrive early or on time.
“Kapil Used To Be Late, But Not Anymore”
When the discussion shifted to The Great Indian Kapil Show, Ranveer asked whether the team ever waits hours for guests. Kiku clarified that things are far more professional now:
“People mostly come on time… and Kapil also comes on time. Earlier people would say he never did, but now even he arrives punctually — and so do the guests.”
With that statement, Kiku directly addressed a narrative that has followed Kapil for years, confirming that the comedian has made punctuality a priority.
Amitabh Bachchan Once Teased Kapil Mercilessly
This isn’t the first time Kapil’s lateness became a talking point. One of the most viral instances came from Kaun Banega Crorepati, when Amitabh Bachchan roasted him on national television, “Aaj aap theek time pe aaye hain. Humne 12 baje bulaya tha, aap theek 4:30 baje aa gaye.”
Kapil, red-faced but laughing, accepted the dig.
Juhi Chawla And Others Also Mentioned Kapil’s Late Arrivals
Kapil has, in the past, made headlines for arriving late to host a CCL match. Juhi Chawla too had once joked publicly about waiting a long time for him before a shoot.
But if Kiku’s latest statements are anything to go by, that chapter is over — replaced by a far more disciplined, professional Kapil Sharma.
