India thrashed Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in their one-off Test at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Monday, sealing victory inside three days. The
result marked India’s biggest innings win in Test history, surpassing their previous record of an innings and 272 runs against West Indies in Rajkot in 2018.
The contest was dominated by India throughout, echoing the previous Test meeting between the two sides. In 2018, Afghanistan faced India in Bengaluru in their Test debut and suffered a heavy innings defeat in a match that ended inside two days.

India’s Top-10 Biggest Innings Win in Test History
Resuming on Day 3, Afghanistan were bowled out for 152 before lunch in reply to India’s first-innings total of 564/8 declared. Manav Suthar was the standout performer with the ball, claiming a six-wicket haul on his international debut.
Holding a commanding lead of 412 runs, India enforced the follow-on.
Afghanistan began their second innings positively, with openers Sediqullah Atal and Abdul Malik putting on 42 runs for the first wicket. However, the innings unraveled after Mohammed Siraj broke the partnership by dismissing Malik.
Washington Sundar (4/36) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/30) then combined to bowl Afghanistan out for 112 in 35.5 overs.
India’s batting effort was anchored by centuries from captain Shubman Gill (126) and KL Rahul (100). Sai Sudharsan (81), Rishabh Pant (81), and Washington Sundar (52*) also contributed half-centuries. For Afghanistan, Mohammad Saleem Safi finished with a six-wicket haul.
The two teams will now switch to ODI mode with the three-match series set to get underway from Saturday.
