Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated next, tentatively titled Thalaivar 173, is gearing up to go on floors soon, and fresh updates suggest that the film is already making headlines for its ambitious
prep work.
Rajinikanth To Finalise His Look
According to reports, director Cibi Chakaravarthi has gone all out in designing Rajinikanth’s look for the film. The filmmaker is said to have conceptualised as many as 83 different variations, working closely with leading stylists to craft a distinct on-screen appearance.
From these, three final looks have reportedly been shortlisted, with Rajinikanth expected to personally choose the one that best aligns with his vision for the character. However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers yet.
A Major Collaboration In The Making
Thalaivar 173 is being co-produced by Kamal Haasan under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International. The project initially had director Sundar C attached, but he later stepped away due to prior commitments, paving the way for Cibi Chakaravarthi to take charge.
The film is also expected to feature Basil Joseph and Priyanka Mohan in key roles, adding further intrigue to the project.
Shoot Timeline And Expectations
The makers have already begun pre-production, and the film is expected to go on floors in April 2026. While details about the storyline remain under wraps, the scale of preparation hints at a project designed to match Rajinikanth’s larger-than-life screen persona.
Rajinikanth’s Packed Line-Up
Before Thalaivar 173, Rajinikanth will return to the big screen with Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, where he reprises his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel is expected to feature a star-studded lineup, including Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar.
Looking ahead, the superstar is also set to reunite with Kamal Haasan for a yet-untitled project, currently being referred to as the KHxRK reunion, which is expected to go on floors later this year.
With multiple high-profile projects in the pipeline, Thalaivar 173 is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films in Rajinikanth’s upcoming slate.
