Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on Congress, referring to it as “India’s oldest party” that tried to destroy India’s image at the AI Impact Summit, which concluded on February
21.
Calling the shirtless protest at the AI summit by the Youth Congress a “dirty” tactic, Prime Minister Modi said they deployed it a time when India is shaping the discourse in the age of artificial intelligence.
“The AI summit was a moment of pride for the entire country, but the country’s oldest party tried to turn the national celebration into a spectacle. In front of foreign guests, the Congress not only exposed itself but also revealed its ideological bankruptcy,” Modi said, during the News18 Rising Bharat Summit.
Modi took a swipe at the Congress’s “habit” of protesting, saying when frustration and disappointment from failure fill the mind and arrogance takes over, thinking that defames the country comes to the surface. But he said no matter what, his government will keep doing its work.
“Congress jitna shirt pharte rahe, hum apna kaam karte rahenge (no matter how many shirtless protests Congress carries out, we will keep doing our work),” he said.
Recalling Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s reference to Mahatma Gandhi over the shirtless protest, he said the grand old party always brings Bapu’s name forward to “hide its mistakes”.
“There is anger in the country over this act of Congress. That is why, to justify their wrongdoing, they brought Mahatma Gandhi forward. The Congress party does the same thing whenever it wants to hide its mistakes — it brings Bapu to the forefront — and when it wants to claim credit, it gives all the recognition to one family (Nehru-Gandhi family),” he said.
Listing the Congress’s opposition to Article 370, triple talaq, Swachh Bharat, vaccine, surgical strikes, and the Ashoka stambh, the Prime Minister said the Congress has now been reduced to merely a “toolkit” of the opposition in the name of ideology.
“Congress opposed Ashoka stambh in Parliament, they opposed the new Parliament building, opposed the surgical strikes, air strikes, ‘Operation Sindoor. They opposed the CAA, women reservation Bill, UPI, opposed abolition of triple talaq. This mindset of blind opposition has grown so much that it does not miss any opportunity to belittle the country on any stage or platform,” he said.
