Mohit Suri’s passionate romance film Saiyaara is turning out to be one of the year’s biggest blockbusters. Starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film has maintained a remarkable run at the box
office, collecting over ₹300 crore in India within three weeks.
Even with competition from Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 and Triptii Dimri-Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Dhadak 2, Saiyaara continues to draw audiences. On August 7 (Day 21), the film grossed an estimated ₹1.85 crore, as per Sacnilk. Its third Sunday brought in around ₹8 crore before seeing a slight dip during the weekdays.
Saiyaara Emerges As Unexpected Hit
Saiyaara is outperforming expectations owing to strong word-of-mouth and public support. Since its release, it has faced fierce competition from Anupam Kher’s Tanvi: The Great, Sonakshi Sinha’s Nikita Roy, Mahavatar Narsimha, Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2, and Triptii Dimri and Sidhant Chaturvedi’s Dhadak 2. However, the film has remained popular with the audience thanks to its riveting plot, deep emotions, and soul-stirring music.
Saiyaara: Plot And Cast
The romantic film follows Ahaan, a daring, determined, and struggling musician, and Aneet, a fiercely devoted writer. Saiyaara follows the two’s emotional journey as their love is tested by life’s trials in the distinctive Mohit Suri style. The film delves into issues of grief, selflessness and eternal love.
Speaking about the success of the film, Mohit Suri credited the film’s producers for giving him the freedom to create without any commercial pressure. He told NDTV, “They never gave me a number, never asked for a certain kind of opening or chartbuster. They just said, give us your best film, give us your best music. That’s what gave me the wings to fly, to be fearless.”
Saiyaara, written by Rohan Shankar and Sankalp Sadanah, has great supporting performances from Geeta Agrawal Sharma, Sid Makkar, Shaad Randhawa, Rajesh Kumar, and Varun Badola. The film also marks the first cooperation between filmmaker Mohit Suri and the legendary production company Yash Raj Films.
