The Supreme Court’s decision to remove all community dogs from Delhi-NCR and keep them in shelter homes has sparked a massive debate on social media. Among others, actress Daisy Shah also issued an emotional
statement recently and urged everyone to show compassion towards stray dogs.
“Think about the street dog in your lane… the one who runs to you when you come home, wags his tail when you give him a biscuit, and quietly sits outside your gate at night as if guarding you. Now imagine… tomorrow he’s gone. Taken away to a crowded place where no one calls his name, where the smells and faces are all strange, and where love is replaced by fear,” Daisy stated.
The actress stressed that these dogs are more than just animals on the road — they are part of the community’s emotional fabric. “These dogs aren’t just ‘strays’, they’re part of our mohalla, our childhood memories, our everyday smiles. They trust us with their little lives,” she said, adding that relocation is not a humane solution.
“Removing them from their homes on the streets isn’t the solution. Feeding, vaccinating, and caring for them is. If humanity means anything, it’s this — Protect the ones who can’t speak for themselves. Let’s not break the hearts of those who love us most unconditionally,” the actress added.
Besides Daisy, Sadia Khateeb, who is currently shooting for Silaa, also took to her Instagram Stories and expressed her dismay, writing: “Who is giving them this right? Let’s raise our voices together.”

Meanwhile, Sheetal Kale, best known for her portrayal of a transgender character and Sushmita Sen’s best friend in the acclaimed web series Taali, has also raised her voice for the welfare of street animals.
Joining others in support of street animals, Sheetal shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram account, which read: “Street dogs are a part of our community, they deserve love, care, and safety just like us. Their home has always been among us, not behind closed shelter doors. Let’s choose compassion over fear, and find solutions that keep every being free and safe.”

What Is The Supreme Court Order About Stray Dogs In Delhi?
The Supreme Court on Monday ordered that all stray dogs in Delhi and the NCR must be caught within eight weeks and kept in special shelters that civic authorities will set up. The court made it clear that once a dog is caught, it will not be released back onto the streets.
A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan gave these directions while hearing a case taken up on its own about the rising number of stray dog attacks. The judges also said that anyone who tries to stop the authorities from carrying out the capture will face contempt of court action.
The court further ordered that a helpline must be started in Delhi-NCR to report dog bite cases. If a complaint is made, the dog involved must be caught within four hours.
