The last BMC elections were held on 21 February 2017, which witnessed the emergence of Shiv Sena as the single largest party with 84 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 82 seats. The next election is scheduled to take place on 15 January 2026, with the counting of votes on 16 January 2026.
