American actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in the hit television series Heroes and Nashville, has died at the age of 36. Her representative confirmed her death on Sunday, August 16. The
cause of death has not been disclosed, and further details surrounding her passing were not immediately made available.
Panettiere’s father, Skip Panettiere, shared the news in a statement to ABC News, in which he described his daughter as “an incredible light and a force of nature” who brought immense love and joy.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” her father shared in the statement while also requesting privacy as the family comes to terms with the loss.

Hayden Panettiere’s Work And Life
Hayden Panettiere began her career in the 1990s and built a successful career in both television and film. She rose to global fame as Claire Bennet, the superpowered cheerleader in Heroes, before taking on the role of country singer Juliette Barnes in Nashville. She is also known for her roles in Remember the Titans, Raising Helen, Ice Princess, Scream 4, and Scream VI.
Panettiere is survived by her daughter, Kaya Klitschko, whom she welcomed in 2014 with her former fiancé, heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko. The actress, who had opened up about challenges she faced growing up in the spotlight and throughout adulthood, released a memoir in May this year, titled This Is Me: A Reckoning, in which she reflected on her personal struggles and experiences in Hollywood.
She died nearly three years after her brother, Jansen Panettiere, died suddenly in February 2023 from cardiomegaly (enlarged heart) coupled with aortic valve complications.
