Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently opened up about his love for 90s romantic cinema. When asked if he misses films from that decade, he said the 90s had a strong presence of romantic movies, with
actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan delivering several memorable love stories during that time. Aamir also recalled that he cried a lot watching Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji starrer ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, when it was released in 1998. He revealed watching the film with his then-wife Reena Dutta, and said that he got very emotional.
Aamir Khan Reveals He Cried Watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
In an interaction with Mirchi Plus, Aamir said, “I think there used to be more romantic films in the 90s, as far as I remember. Like Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Great music. Salman Khan had them too. I have actually done fewer romantic films. There was a lot of romance in the 90s, and I feel this film Ek Din is a pure, magical old-fashioned romantic film that is coming after a long time.”
He further added, “I am a sucker for romance. I really love romantic films. I cry a lot while watching romantic movies. I remember watching Shah Rukh Khan’s film—the one that was Karan Johar’s first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Reena and I were watching it at Raj Kamal theatre. I tend to cry a lot anyway. It was a very emotional film, and I cried a lot. Unfortunately, Reena was wearing a dress with a zari-work dupatta. I ended up using her dupatta to wipe my tears, and my face ended up getting scratched.”
