Heavy rain and flash floods near Silver Cascade Falls have disrupted road access to Tamil Nadu’s popular hill station, Kodaikanal, leaving cars and buses stranded for nearly two hours. The flooding has
caused major traffic delays, making it difficult for tourists and other travellers to reach the town.
The incident comes as the Northeast monsoon brings heavy rain to several parts of Tamil Nadu. With more rainfall expected in the coming days, travellers heading to hill areas have been urged to check weather alerts and road conditions before starting their journey.

The footage shows muddy floodwater rushing down a hillside and spreading across the road near Silver Cascade Falls in Kodaikanal. Water can be seen flowing across the road as vehicles remain lined up near roadside shops and stalls.

Kodaikanal attracts many tourists during weekends and holidays for its cool weather, green hills and scenic views. However, heavy rain can make travel on its winding roads difficult and lead to sudden flooding in low-lying stretches.
Tamil Nadu Remains On Alert As Monsoon Rains Intensify
The Northeast monsoon has strengthened over Tamil Nadu, with a low-pressure area persisting over Comorin and nearby parts of south Tamil Nadu. The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued orange and yellow alerts for several districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rain until October 26.
Chennai may also see isolated spells of heavy rain, with rainfall expected to increase from October 25. Tamil Nadu has received 13.3 cm of rain this October, around 23% above the normal level of 10.8 cm, according to The Hindu.
