Demi Moore recently shared a personal memory from her early years with actor Bruce Willis. The moment came up during a relaxed conversation at a private film event in Los Angeles, where Moore spoke openly
about a habit that once brought joy into their home.
The memory surfaced while Moore was talking about music and films that carry emotional meaning. What started as a discussion about a movie soon turned into a warm story from her past, reminding her of a routine that stayed with her long after it began.
A Song That Brought Back Old Memories
While attending a Q&A session with Kate Hudson at a special screening of Song Sung Blue on January 7, Demi Moore spoke about how the film connected to her own life. The 63-year-old actor explained that the movie reminded her of a tradition Bruce Willis followed for years during their marriage.
“This is a little personal thing, but Bruce always had every week, Neil Diamond Day,” Moore told Hudson.
The song Song Sung Blue, released by Neil Diamond in 1972, inspired the film’s title. The movie stars Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman as a real-life couple who ran a Neil Diamond cover band.
Moore recalled how Willis would play Neil Diamond’s music loudly throughout the day. “Watching the movie just kept reminding me of when he would blast Neil Diamond, and I’d say, ‘What’s going on?’ ” she said.
According to Moore, Willis always had the same answer. “And he said, ‘No, it’s Neil Diamond Day.’ ” She added that this was not a one-time thing. “He played Neil throughout the day. He kept on doing that for years. He was a huge Neil fan. And so am I!”

Praise For The Film And Its Cast
Moore also spoke kindly about the film and those involved in it. “And you know, to your point, the generosity of what this film is, what your performance is, Hugh’s, also the kids, I thought were extraordinary,” she said.
Several well-known names attended the private event, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino, Mark Ruffalo, and director David O. Russell.
A Bond That Stayed Strong After Divorce
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis were married from 1987 to 2000 and share three daughters: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. Over the years, both have spoken openly about maintaining a close relationship even after their separation.
“I still love Demi. We’re very close. We have three children whom we will continue to raise together, and we’re probably as close now as we ever were,” Willis said in a 2000 interview. “Our friendship continues. The institution has been set aside.”
Willis later married Emma Heming Willis in 2009, with Moore attending their wedding. “We’ve become like a tribe,” Willis said in 2009.
In 2025, Emma Heming Willis also reflected on how their relationship began. “I got to see this other side of Bruce, who was a family man,” she said. “That was the start of our love story.”
