Earlier as well, the actor had cited the same reason for the show’s absence from television. As quoted by IANS, the Dangal actor said, “Satyameva Jayate isn’t coming on television because the entire team is engaged in Paani Foundation work.”
He added, “We, all members of ‘Satyamev Jayate’, are busy with this water problem and we think making Maharashtra drought-free is more important.”
What Aamir Khan Said About Paani Foundation
Paani Foundation is a non-profit organisation working towards drought prevention and sustainable watershed management in Maharashtra. It was founded by Aamir Khan along with his former wives Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta, and filmmaker Satyajit Bhatkal, with a focus on tackling the state’s ongoing water crisis.
Earlier in an interview with Horizons, the actor shared what role he plays in the foundation. He said, “Between us, Satya is the one who works 24/7 for the Foundation. I give half my working time to it and the other half to my films. Our strength is a great idea that is well communicated. Add to that, I’m a star and I come with certain advantages. Also add the fact that we did Satyamev Jayate for three seasons and it was very popular.”
Speaking about Satyamev Jayate, he added, “the show was about touching the emotions of viewers. It was hard journalism and it had mass communication embedded in it. With Paani, too, we are the communicators. We are not a government agency, we are not the administration and, actually, we are not an NGO either. The water cup is all about communication; its design is about communication and our training process is about communication.”
