The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has revised the exam dates for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment 2025. Previously scheduled for February 16, 17, and 18, 2026, the CBT 1 examination will now
take place on February 13, 16, and 17.
Candidates who have applied for the post can check the detailed schedule on the official websites of their respective regional RRBs.
The board has clarified that CBT 1 will serve only as a screening test to shortlist candidates for CBT 2, based on their normalised marks and merit. Screening will be done among candidates who have opted for the same RRB.
The exam city intimation slip will be released 10 days before the examination date, meaning anytime in the first week of February. The e-call letters or admit cards will be available for download around four days prior to the exam date mentioned in the city intimation link.
Clarifying the timeline, the RRB said, “The link for viewing the Exam City & Date and downloading of Travel Authority for SC/ST candidates will be made live 10 days prior to the final exam date of the candidate for respective CENs on the official websites of all RRBs. Downloading of e-call letters will start about four days prior to the exam date mentioned in the Exam City and Date intimation link.”
RRB ALP Exam Process
The CBT 1 exam will be an objective-type test comprising 75 questions for 75 marks, to be attempted within 60 minutes. Questions will cover basic aptitude, mathematics, reasoning, general science, and general awareness.
The ALP recruitment process includes multiple stages. Candidates who qualify CBT 1 will be shortlisted for CBT 2, followed by a Computer-Based Aptitude Test and document verification.
Through this recruitment drive, the RRB aims to fill 9,970 Assistant Loco Pilot posts. The application process began on April 12 and concluded on May 11, 2025. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official websites of regional RRBs for further updates related to the recruitment process.
